Your Magnaflow exhaust package comes with three pieces–a resonator, center pipe, and muffler section. The front resonator comes with a mounting flange that bolts right onto your stock catalytic converter. This part connects to a center pipe that is secured with exhaust clamps, which are supplied. And the rear muffler section joins together, exiting the car in the center of the rear bumper. Also, all the parts are stainless steel, which don’t rust or stain–nice job Magnaflow.
Scrap metal is the end product in its lowest possible form. A product is created, used, sold on Ebay, used some more, given to your 10-year old nephew, used a few more times, and finally thrown in the trash. But before it is thrown in the trash, you may not realize it yet, but this trash may be worth something. Ultimately, you are no longer using the item for the intended purpose, but rather, sending the metal back into the furnace for reuse.
Establish the right expectations in advance. Parts will wear out and fail. They’ll need to be replaced. If you neglect them, they will eventually leave you stranded at the side of the road. Below, we’ll take a brief look at several components that will need to be replaced over time.
The brake pads on light vehicles should only need to be replaced every 50,000 miles or more. Heavy SUVs, on the other hand, might need to have them replaced at 35,000 miles. The pads usually cost less than $80 and can be installed at home. However, if the rotors need to be machined, you’ll need the tools and expertise of a mechanic. Expect to pay up to $500 (and maybe more).
Using an EBC is the safest way to raise boost, it will prevent spiking and over-boosting. But it really comes down to your budget. If you can afford an EBC, get one. If you can’t, go with a MBC. And always keep an eye on that boost gauge. And whatever you are using to control boost, remember to not get carried away, I don’t recommend going regularly over 18psi.
If the car is missing any pollution controls it won’t pass the state emission test. The air cleaner and exhaust system must pass a visual test in most areas. It is a Federal offense to remove a scrap O2 sensor recycling.
Depending upon the type of hangers you have on your car, place the brand-new hangers onto the exhaust pieces first; this is normally a less complicated method to put the pieces back on.
You have just installed your Magnaflow exhaust system. Turn the car and make sure you don’t have any exhaust leaks. If everything is good, then you’re golden. Enjoy your Mini’s new throaty growl and boost in horsepower. Keep working on your Mini folks!
